Meet the Artist: Tristan Fane
I had a good chat with Tristan Fane in Discord one night about voice acting. These actors have become like family. Not the norm experience for me as a voice actor in the various jobs I’ve done, but this group and their excitement gave me all the feels, so I adopted them all.
Tristan was no exception.
In our chats, she mentioned she was doing some art for the upcoming Art Fight competition and shared her stream with me. I was blown away. The quality of a single competition piece was incredible — full of life and movement, the kind of work that feels like it’s already part of a story.
You know I had to ask if she’d ever be interested in doing some art for the mod.
As a mod author, I’m always hat in hand.
But I got lucky. Tristan said yes.
And now, her work appears throughout Shadows of the Old World as magazine art — those collectible issues tucked into corners of the Wasteland, each one carrying her vibrant, expressive style.
Art with Emotion
Tristan’s been drawing since she was five. You can tell. There’s something instinctive in the way she captures expression and energy — every character looks like they’re about to say something.
“What I love most about art,” she says, “is being able to capture the emotions of the characters I draw, and bringing my characters and stories to life.”
That same energy flows through her voice acting. Whether she’s behind the mic or behind the stylus, her work always carries that emotional heartbeat, that special level of humanity that makes a fictional world feel real.

The Balance and the Drive
Tristan’s not just a creative, she also works full-time in IT.
Between her job, her art, her writing, and her voice work, she somehow finds the hours to keep improving. She’s open about how hard that can be.
“Finding the time and energy to do all the art and writing I want to do… and the constant feelings of inadequacy — ha.”
That kind of honesty is exactly what makes her stand out. There’s no pretense. Just genuine love for the work, and the discipline to keep showing up for it.
Life happens. It always does. And sometimes the only answer is to step back, quit, or disappear for a while. But not Tristan. She reached out to let me know the work was ongoing and coming soon.
What an incredible human.
Her dream job?
“Webcomicker/comicker and novelist/screenwriter and voice actor.”
Honestly, she’s already living pieces of all of it.
We’re so lucky to have her on the Shadows Team.
